Painting In Redmond

Two passions in my life are animals and painting, and I have combined the love of both to help homeless, abandoned, unwanted and sometimes abused animals have a second chance at a healthy, happy life with a caring family.

Being self-taught, it has taken several years and several attempts to improve my painting technique. I have painted for family and friends over the years, but it has only been in the last few years I have been confident enough to offer commissions, painting people’s beloved pets with the aim of fund raising for Homeward Pet Adoption Centre in Woodinville, www.homewardpet.org, where I also volunteer, donating 25% of each commission to help fund their vital work.

I create all my paintings from photos and will always look for a photo where I can connect with the subject and for me this is always the eyes. They say the eyes are the windows to the soul and for me this is so true. While we cannot talk to the animals, by looking into their eyes they can tell us so much about how they are feeling, which is why I always start with painting the eyes, because I know if I get the eyes right everything else will come together.

I have also branched out a little and produced some canvas art using photos from a copyright free website and my husband has amazingly produced the floating frames. Alot of these have been donated to charities to use at their fund raising events.
